Poole Coastguard Curry Club
Every six weeks the Poole Coastguard Team let their hair down (for those who have some) and enjoy the delights of a curry. This has become a fixed event in the teams monthly roster and is an aid to both training and team moral. In the last two years or so we have visited EVERY curry house in the Poole area.
For those of you visiting the town and looking to sample the delights of a local curry here are our top five venues for your enjoyment. We hope you can find time to pay them a visit and let us know what you think...............tell them we sent you..!!!!
| 1 | The Gate of
India: Located in Lower Parkstone on Commercial Road this was our
first venue and has become the teams firm favourite. After 2 years we
have never had a bad experience. A warm welcome always assured. Great real ale
pubs just a short away. (try the Bermuda triangle) |
| 2 | Bengal Spice:
Located in the town's historic High Street just a short walk from the Quay this
venue provides great food and service and for yachties should be your nearest
port of call. |
| 3 | The Taj
Mahal: Again located on Poole's High Street behind the main Quay this is a
almost joint second placing for this laid back and friendly restaurant. Now
serving alfresco curry for those who want to eat out doors. |
| 4 | The Taj:
This one is a drive out of town in Corfe Mullen on the main road, however its
worth the effort. A smart and new venue the food is great and the prices
very reasonable. Also some of the best service we've found. |
| 5 |
The Tatnam
Tandoori: A real surprise situated off the main Wimborne Road going
out of town in a quite residential area of Poole. This one is a little
gem, but make sure you book if you can as its often full at the weekend. |
